BATON ROUGE, La (Louisiana First) — Residents in West Baton Rouge Parish are speaking out after leaked federal documents suggested a warehouse in Port Allen could potentially be converted into a detention facility housing hundreds of people.
Community members packed a West Baton Rouge Parish Council meeting Thursday evening to raise concerns and demand answers about the potential site. The meeting comes after reports from The Washington Post revealing that the Port Allen warehouse was listed as a possible site in a broader federal plan to expand detention facilities across the country.
