ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Beginning this weekend, the National Museum of Transportation is celebrating 100 years of Route 66 with a new exhibit. For many, the star of the exhibit is a restored scale model of the Admiral, docked under the Gateway Arch.
“If you’re from St. Louis and you have any sort of history here, you either rode on it or gambled on it or did a field trip here on the Admiral when you were in grade school,” Coby Ellison, curator at the National Museum of Transportation, said. “It was kind of a big deal.”
If you want to set sail onto some St. Louis nostalgia, then point your compass to the National Museum of Transportation just outside Kirkwood, because that’s where the Admiral has arrived…
