SHREVEPORT, La. — Drivers in south Shreveport and those crossing the Red River should prepare for significant travel delays as two major road projects begin this weekend.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced a total closure of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop near the Auto Mall. The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday to allow Union Pacific Railroad crews to perform repairs at the crossing.
This will be a total road closure with no exceptions for through traffic. Officials noted that all work is weather permitting.
Commuters who use the Jimmie Davis Bridge will also face upcoming nightly restrictions. Lane closures on the existing bridge are scheduled to begin Tuesday as work continues on the new bridge project…
