Last fall, parents and teachers at a south Eugene Montessori school repainted the pale blue building, turning it teal with yellow and orange trim.
A transformation also took place inside the building. After the director of Far Horizons Montessori School stopped paying teachers and closed the school, the community stepped in to create a new school in the building.
South Hills Montessori School at 2490 Hilyard St. is a teacher-led collective, with instructors voting on decisions related to hiring and expenses. The school, which serves kids ages 2 to 12, is enrolling students for next fall and is hosting an open house Saturday, March 14, 2 to 4 p.m…
