Oregon landfill’s $3 million fine for air pollution biggest ever issued by state

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a civil penalty of more than $3 million for air quality violations at Coffin Butte Landfill north of Corvallis – the regulatory agency’s biggest fine ever.

The 178-acre landfill currently accepts up to 2,500 tons of waste per day, including from Benton, Marion, Polk, Linn and Lincoln counties.
