A landslide swept through the Indian Hills Apartment Complex in Portland’s Markham neighborhood just before noon Thursday, prompting evacuations but causing no reported injuries.
Portland Fire & Rescue crews, including Engine 18, Engine 5, Truck 10, and the Technical Rescue Team, responded to reports of a mudslide covering part of the parking lot and access roadway to the six-unit building. Two apartments were occupied at the time; residents were safely escorted from the building, while the remaining four units were left untouched after no one answered the doors, according to PF&R.
“The mud was still slowly moving down the slope when crews arrived,” PF&R wrote in a press release. “No specialized rescue was needed, and all residents in occupied units were safely evacuated.”…
