Woman charged in Albany lottery scam case

A 35-year-old woman, Alicia Stanley of Albany, has been charged in a lottery scam that targeted a 92-year-old victim. Between March 3, 2026 and March 5, 2026, the victim received calls claiming she had won the lottery and was told to send money for taxes. She sent two cashier’s checks totaling $10,232 and $2,800 in cash to an address in Albany.

On March 11, 2026 around 8:10 a.m., Albany Police executed a search warrant at a home on Lark Drive near Manning Boulevard, where Stanley was found and arrested. She faces charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd and Scheme to Defraud 1st. Stanley was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released under supervision…
