Marc Elrich has released his recommended Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget, outlining spending priorities for education, housing, public safety, health services, transportation, climate initiatives, and economic development while aiming to maintain the county’s long-term fiscal stability.
The proposal includes $3.8 billion in funding for Montgomery County Public Schools, fully funding the school system’s request and increasing support by $189.9 million compared with the current fiscal year.
The budget also proposes $152.7 million for affordable housing initiatives, continued funding for health and human services programs, and investments in public safety, including staffing for police and fire departments.
