Finding Solutions: Augusta nonprofit shows no signs of slowing Harrisburg revitalization

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – An Augusta nonprofit has spent 15 years constructing and renovating homes in the Harrisburg neighborhood, and organizers say the work is far from over.

Turn Back the Block has built nine new homes and renovated nine others in the area. Twenty-six lots have been cleared and are ready for new construction.

‘The heart of everything’

Executive Director Ashley Brown said the neighborhood’s location makes preservation a priority.

“This neighborhood is so historic and it’s situated perfectly between downtown, the Augusta Canal area, the medical district, Summerville; it’s almost like the heart of everything,” Brown said…
