CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A local advocacy organization has started a petition asking for safer bicycle and pedestrian access across the Wappoo Cut Bridge.
The Wappoo Cut Bridge connects West Ashley and James Island through Folly Road and has a history of traffic delays, closures because of mechanical failures and accidents. Charleston Moves has started the petition asking the South Carolina Department of Transportation, Charleston County and the city to assist in and support the study, conceptual planning, engineering, funding, permitting and ultimate construction of safe bicycle and pedestrian access at the Wappoo Cut crossing.
