At least once a year, Erie County Department of Health officials inspect all restaurants and stores that sell unpackaged food. Here is a list of violations recorded March 5-13.
3 critical violations
The Red Bull Saloon, 732 W. Fourth St. (Wastewater from a basement drain was being pumped through a hose running through the kitchen and out of an open window onto the ground outside of the building. A layer of sludge and waste material was found on the floor of the basement from the sewage backup; The imminent health hazard was not reported to the department, and the facility remained open. The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.) March 9; reinspection March 10 found that previous violations were corrected.
