Carbondale, Illinois – Residents across southern Illinois and southern Indiana may have only a short window Sunday afternoon before a fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms arrives with the potential for 60 to 75 mph wind gusts capable of knocking down trees and power lines.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a strong cold front moving east Sunday afternoon into the evening is expected to trigger a line of severe storms across the lower Ohio Valley.
