Blount commissioners approve interlocal agreement with Louisville during workshop

There won’t be a new sheriff in town, but there could be some new enforcement by the deputies.

The Blount County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution out of its Thursday workshop session to approve an interlocal agreement between the town of Louisville, Blount County, the Sheriff’s Office and the General Session Court that would expand the law enforcement in Louisville.

Blount County Sheriff’s Office has been proving law enforcement to the town. The agreement would empower deputies to additionally enforce the city’s ordinances within Louisville and the court to hear cases for any violations…
