Charleston, West Virginia – Drivers across the central Appalachian region could face dangerous travel conditions Monday afternoon and evening as a fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms pushes through the mountains with the potential for tornado warnings and damaging wind gusts.
According to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, portions of eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio, West Virginia, and western Virginia fall within a Level 2 to Level 3 severe storm risk Monday. Forecasters say the main hazard will be widespread damaging winds capable of reaching 60 to 70 mph.
