FREMONT – Fremont police arrested a Tiffin man March 12 on criminal attempted importuning charges after a large mass disturbance at Denny’s on March 11.
The arrest came after police investigated what they declined to call a riot at the Denny’s in Fremont at 1750 Cedar St.
“Basically, we had a threat, and I wouldn’t call it a riot, we had a mob threat, that’s what I would call it at this moment, that we were preparing to mitigate. It was a large gathering related to a confrontation,” Fremont Police Chief Derek Wensinger said. “We were getting information that there was going to be a large crowd, wherever it was going to occur, but we didn’t have a location. As a result of the disturbance, we had to evacuate (the arrested man) from Denny’s under protection against the crowd.”…
