AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — North Amarillo is set to lose a nearby health care option with the North Heights Medical Clinic scheduled to permanently close on March 31.
The clinic opened in May 2024 after owner and nurse practitioner Marshall Dawkins said he wanted to fill a need in the area. Dawkins said he spoke with Black leadership in North Amarillo, who “expressed a need for Medical services here because, as it stands, you know the nearest clinic from here is about two and a half miles away.”
Dawkins said the clinic would have needed to care for nine to 10 patients a day to stay open, but some days it saw less than half that number. He said a recent push to attract more patients did not bring enough sustained business…
