Fox Cities snow cancellations include play, concert, referendum session

With the possible blizzard set to reach the Fox Valley over the weekend, local municipalities and school districts are adjusting their schedules and rules.

Here’s what we know so far. This list will be updated.

Several Fox Cities declare snow emergency, forbid street parking

In most cases, declaring a snow emergency declaration means parking is not allowed on city streets. This allows snow removal equipment and emergency equipment better access to the community during and following a storm. In most cases, vehicles found in violation will be ticketed and could be towed.

Here’s which communities have made such a declaration, so far:

  • Appleton, effective 5 a.m. March 15, until lifted. No parking on city streets. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel, keep snow from sidewalks and driveways out of the street, be mindful of city snowplows and emergency vehicles, and check the city website and social media for updates. Cleanup operations may continue into next week.
  • Hortonville, in effect from 3 a.m. March 15 to 6 a.m. March 17. No parking allowed on village roads.
  • Kaukauna, in effect from 11 p.m. March 14 until 7 a.m. March 17. The city urges residents to avoid non-essential travel and to check on neighbors who don’t have resources to deal with the snowstorm. Garbage collection on March 16 is suspended and collection days will be shifted one day.
  • Kimberly, in effect 7 p.m. March 14 until 4 p.m. March 16. All vehicles and equipment must be removed from public roads, alleys and parking areas.
  • Little Chute, in effect March 13 until 4 p.m. March 16. Street parking isn’t allowed on village roads.
  • Neenah, in effect from midnight on March 15 through noon, March 20. No parking allowed on city streets.
