From moving jellyfish to a claw machine, professional Lego artists show off their creations in Katy

A Lego convention in Katy on Saturday showcased incredible creations of professional artists who have spent years mastering construction with the tiny plastic bricks.

From a 3D map of downtown Houston to an operating claw machine to a jellyfish with moving tentacles, hundreds of Lego enthusiasts of all ages admired the range of complex creations while discussing the details of each piece with the artists. The convention, which also runs Sunday at the Leonard E. Merrell Center, featured follow-along sessions where people could build a piece with the guidance of pro Lego artists, as well as purchase new or hard-to-find Lego sets.

For 40-year-old Chistopher Jones, who works in IT sales, the convention was a stepping stone for him to get back into a forgotten hobby. He said he was at Saturday’s event to see the different creations, as well as to find retired Lego sets that he could purchase…
