March 14, 1981- Musician Eric Clapton hospitalized after concert in Madison

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -On this day March 14, 1981, famous musician Eric Clapton collapsed following a performance at the Dane County Coliseum, and was hospitalized with bleeding ulcers.

Clapton was already struggling before the show, needing a pain killer to get through the concert. He was able to finish the show but was immediately flown to St. Paul, Minnesota and checked into a hospital.

This was his 57th show on his North American tour, before he was forced to cancel the remaining 47 shows…
