Wichita Falls City Council to consider millions in spending on Tuesday

The Wichita Falls City Council will have some big-ticket spending items to consider when they meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room at the Multi-Purpose Events Center, 1000 Fifth Street. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the city’s website.

Councilors will consider spending up to $1.4 million annually in city Sales Tax Corp. funds for the next 20 years for the following:

  • Renovation of the defunct G.H. Kirby Middle School into police headquarters
  • Renovation of the artificial waterfalls feature at Interstate 44-44 near the Wichita River
  • Completion of the Circle Trail at Lake Wichita.

Assistant City Manager Blake Duecek has estimated conversion of the 53-year-old school building as replacement of the 60-year-old police headquarters would be between $26 million and $36 million…
