‘If it’s our time, then that may have to be’: Acadia Cafe launches effort to stay in business

It’s never easy to run a restaurant or music venue, but Acadia Cafe has had a particularly difficult run in recent years, with a bus crashing through its facade and vandals smashing its windows twice last year.

Now, the ripple effects of Operation Metro Surge have the Cedar-Riverside cafe sounding the alarm. On Friday, Acadia Cafe launched a GoFundMe campaign to help it stay in business.

“Like everyone else, the last several months have seen a severe impact on business, with canceled shows and people needing to stay safe at home,” the cafe and music venue writes in an announcement.

“We’ve been able to scrape enough money together to keep our staff paid, artists paid, and our store mostly stocked, but that’s about it. Our rent and utilities have had to fall by the wayside, and our landlord’s patience has run out.”…
