Expelled student from WMass college found with cache of weapons, DA says

SPRINGFIELD — A Saugus man who was expelled from Western New England University over weapons was arraigned Thursday on multiple charges, after police say he was caught with a gun, sword and materials often used in homemade bombs, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

James McNary, 18, was charged with using a 3D printer to make a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, building an untraceable firearm, and possession of a firearm without an FID card.

The former university student — who had been expelled for breaching the school’s weapons policy — was arraigned in Springfield District Court after a police inquiry turned up the gun, the 3D printer, a gas mask, night vision goggles, knives, swords and other weapons. They also found a pressure cooker and ball bearings; bombers used those kinds of bombs during the Boston Marathon bombings of 2013…
