Burn pile fire escaped containment while homeowners slept, CAL FIRE says

(FOX40.COM) — A fire burned about a tenth of an acre after escaping containment from an unattended controlled burn Friday morning, CAL FIRE NEU said.

According to CAL FIRE, around 4:50 a.m., crews responded to a fire at a home that had been called in by someone from a neighboring property. The neighbor reported seeing the flames climb more than 20 feet into nearby pine trees.
