Felon arrested in Petaluma for firearms and drug offenses

On March 11, 2026, at about 9:10 a.m., officers from the Petaluma Police Department’s Community Impact Response Team (CIRT) contacted Michael Maffei (47, Petaluma) outside his residence. Maffei, a convicted felon on active felony pre-trial release, was found with methamphetamine, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, firearm parts, and six rifles hidden in a concealed room in the rafters of his property.

Maffei was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on multiple charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, violation of probation, and possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
