On Sunday at 1:35 p.m. a wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Monday 5 p.m. until Tuesday 11 a.m. for Schenectady, Saratoga, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Ulster and Washington counties.
“Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph expected,” says the weather service. “South to southeast winds will strengthen tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening before a potent cold front sweeps through the region tomorrow night resulting in a sharp wind to the west. Wind gusts tomorrow afternoon through Tuesday morning can peak up to 45 to 50mph.”
“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” explains the weather service. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.”
