NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Firefighters and police responding to a fire in South Carolina on Thursday reportedly found eight unsupervised children and an illegal daycare operation.
North Charleston Police said officers and firefighters responded to Arbor Square Apartments around 2:30 p.m. to a report of a fire. When they arrived, officials said they found eight juveniles without adult supervision. The apartment’s fire suppression system had extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived.
Police said the apartment’s resident arrived a short time later with several additional children. Authorities now believe 29-year-old Janaina Ferreira was operating an illegal daycare at the apartment…
