Westbound lanes of Cherry Street just west of Cumberland Road in Noblesville were abruptly shut down yesterday after firefighters raised alarms about a possible structural collapse, freezing traffic along a busy commercial stretch right in the middle of the afternoon commute. The closure quickly triggered backups on nearby streets as crews moved in, shared a map of the blocked lanes and urged drivers to steer clear while the situation is assessed.
