Two Arrested After Package Theft At Irvine Spectrum

What started as a quiet Saturday mail run at the Park at Irvine Spectrum apartments ended with two alleged package thieves in handcuffs, a damaged stretch of landscaping, and a failed attempt at a rideshare escape, according to police.

Irvine police say a mail carrier spotted a suspicious pair inside a park at the apartment complex and flagged officers, who then moved in as the duo allegedly tried to swipe packages. The suspects reportedly bolted through the landscaping, which officers say was left damaged, and attempted to leave the area in a rideshare. Officers caught up with them, recovered several stolen packages along with other property, and later shared photos of the haul on social media late Saturday.
