Kalamazoo concert to benefit local climate change activism

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — On March 21, visitors to Old Dog Tavern in Kalamazoo can attend a fundraiser for the Kalamazoo Climate Crisis Coalition featuring musical performances hosted by Sounds of the Zoo.

“This is the first time that we’ve done anything like this,” said Jennifer Hudson-Prenkert, founder and executive director of Sounds of the Zoo.

Saugatuck brewery announces community fundraiser nights

Combining live music with community fundraising, Hudson-Prenkert is proud to partner with KCCC and help raise funds for its Climate Ready Homes Project, which helps Kalamazoo residents upgrade their homes to include energy efficient and reduced emissions features.

“They work to build climate resilience in local communities,” Hudson-Prenkert said. “They focus on education and youth engagement.”

Performances will begin at 6 p.m. after a community roundtable with guest speakers discussing climate activism in Kalamazoo. Participating musicians include Samuel Nalangira, The Nathan Moore Affair and DJ Tribewalker…
