Brittanee Drexel’s mother seeks to reopen lawsuit against Moody

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The mother of a 17-year-old who was kidnapped and murdered while vacationing in Myrtle Beach wants a civil suit against her killer reopened.

A Thursday filing by Dawn Conley Pleckan in Georgetown County Common Pleas Court suggests Raymond Moody is withholding assets that are due her following a February 2023 $700 million wrongful death verdict.

Moody was convicted of murdering Brittanee Drexel in April 2009 in Georgetown County. Conley sued Moody in January 2023 for intentional infliction of emotional distress, blaming him not only for taking the New York teenager’s life but for lying about it for years as the case drew national attention.
