Community gathers to honor Hunter Girdner who was injured in Operation Epic Fury

After a motorcycle and law enforcement processional, hundreds of Pensacola area residents gathered Saturday to welcome home Hunter Girdner, a medically retired serviceman from Cantonment who was critically wounded while supporting the U.S. Army in Operation Epic Fury.

Girdner was serving alongside American forces overseas as a military contractor when he was injured. His team came under attack in a targeted area and he was struck by shrapnel and suffered critical injuries while rescuing a teammate.
