Man crossing street struck and killed by car in Philly, police say

A 27-year-old man was struck and killed by a Ford Mustang while crossing the street in North Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred at the 1600 block of West Girard Avenue at around 2 p.m., police said.

A 36-year-old driving a 2006 Ford Mustang was driving eastbound on Girard when two people — the 27-year-old and an unidentified woman — stepped out to cross mid-block, police said.

The driver then attempted to avoid the two by veering into the oncoming traffic lane, but he struck the man and the woman, police said…
