Central NY forecast: Thunderstorms, damaging winds and a flash freeze all possible on Monday

Central New York faces a potentially dangerous weather day on Monday, with severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes expected to develop during the afternoon and early evening hours.

The National Weather Service has placed much of Central New York under a “slight risk” for severe weather on Monday, with the greatest threat occurring from afternoon into early evening.

Before the severe weather arrives, residents should prepare for a volatile 24-hour period beginning Sunday evening. A wind advisory remains in effect from 5 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday, where southerly wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected…
