LAVERGNE, Tenn. — A late-night incident behind the La Vergne Police Department ended with a suspect in custody and multiple criminal charges after officers responded to a suspicious vehicle early Sunday morning, March 8, 2026. According to the La Vergne Police Department, the incident began at approximately 1:51 a.m. when an officer radioed that a vehicle had pulled behind the police department and stopped in the grass in a restricted area.
Officers quickly responded to the rear of the police department to investigate and found a black truck parked in the grassy area behind the building, which is not open to the public. Police say the driver began flashing the truck’s bright lights toward officers and revving the engine, creating a dangerous situation and temporarily limiting officers’ visibility.
Officers positioned themselves strategically around the parking lot while issuing loud verbal commands to the driver. At one point, the suspect turned off the vehicle’s lights, allowing officers to see inside the truck.
