Police Cruiser Banged Up in Multi-Car Wreck at Notorious South Natomas Intersection

A Sacramento Police Department vehicle wound up in the middle of a messy multi-car crash in South Natomas on Saturday night, snarling traffic at an intersection already known as a trouble spot. The collision happened near Truxel Road and San Juan Road, not far from Natomas High School, and resulted in only minor injuries, according to officers at the scene.

According to KCRA, the crash was reported just before 8:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of San Juan Road. A crew from the station observed two Sacramento Police Department vehicles, including one with significant front-end damage, along with three private vehicles, all of which were eventually towed away. Officers said the Truxel and San Juan intersection was shut down while tow trucks and investigators worked the scene.

Intersection on city’s high-injury list

San Juan Road and nearby stretches of Truxel Road are already on Sacramento’s radar as part of its Vision Zero high-injury network, a roster of streets where serious crashes stack up. City planning documents and council records show that segments of San Juan have been singled out for closer study and future safety upgrades, according to the City of Sacramento.
