I was not very familiar with Sam Barber going into this show. I had heard of his opener, Clover County, though, so I decided to check it out. Looking at the venue’s website beforehand, I was impressed to see Barber had scheduled two nights, both of which had been sold out well before the shows. It is not very often you see an artist pull off a two night run at this venue. I attended the first show on Thursday night.
Outside the venue, a long line stretched down the block with fans dressed in plaid shirts, jeans, short skirts, and plenty of cowboy hats. I also noticed fans of all ages in attendance, showing that Sam Barber has built a wide reaching fan base.
The evening started with Clover County taking the stage. Singer A.G. Schiano walked up to the microphone with her acoustic guitar. I was surprised that she did not have a full band with her at first. Schiano performed the first two songs solo before her guitarist joined her for the rest of the set…
