Metro police ramps up patrols as holiday, spring break approaches

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said they are increasing enforcement and DUI checkpoints due to the heightened risk of drinking and driving over the next few days.

“Obviously, we understand that for the community this is an opportunity to get out and celebrate,” said Officer Robert Wicks with LVMPD. “St. Patrick’s Day is well-known for its consuming of beverages and food. And so, obviously, as the police department for the community, we want to be out there and making sure that everyone’s abiding by the law.”
