For more than 50 years, SUNY has offered extra help to low-income students, but few know about it

ALBANY — A promising pre-med student nearly dropped out of school in her first semester after a trifecta of bad advice.

At the last minute, State University of New York officials sent her to the Educational Opportunity Program. Thanks to that decision, she is now planning to join the medical field.
