Staunton man given three-decades in prison for drug distribution

A Staunton man convicted of felony drug charges and facing an automatic mandatory-minimum sentence has been given 30 years in prison following a failed attempt to have his verdict set aside.

Gregory S. Chaplin, 40, was sentenced Friday, March 13 in Augusta County Circuit Court.

Following an Aug. 7 bench trial, a judge convicted Chaplin on charges of possession with intent to distribute (100 grams or more of methamphetamine or 200 grams or more of a mixture of meth), and possession with intent to distribute (third offense).
