Parents of Dawn Pasela urge Parma City Council to reopen 2012 death case amid new support

PARMA, Ohio — Supporters plan to address the Parma City Council Monday night, asking leaders to revisit a case that has remained closed for more than a decade.

The request centers on the death of 26-year-old Dawn Pasela, who was found dead inside her apartment in Parma in 2012. Authorities ruled she died from an apparent alcohol overdose. A report from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office listed her blood alcohol level at over 0.5.

Her parents, Edward and Karen Pasela, say they are still searching for answers. They say Dawn had struggled with alcohol in the past but had been trying to get help and had not been drinking in the weeks before her death…
