MUNCIE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead gymnastics is coming home with their first state title, with northeast Indiana taking the top three spots on the podium on Saturday at Ball State’s Worthen Arena.
Senior gymnast Jillian Creager defended her all-around state title to end her high school career with another championship. The Homestead senior finished with an overall score of 38.275, also winning the bars event with a score of 9.675. The Spartans clinched their first team state title since 2001 by one tenth of a point with a score of 112.125.
Carroll finished runner-up with a score of 112.025. Avery Ziembo led the Chargers with an all-around score of 38.075. Ziembo was also named the Mental Attitude Award winner by the IHSAA.
