One charged after ‘road rage shooting’ on I-40 in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person faces charges after reports of a “road rage shooting” on I-40 Saturday, the Knoxville Police Department said.

James Rodweller, 39, was taken into custody on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, KPD stated.

Officers responded to the reported shooting around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on I-40 near Cherry Street. The victim told them that a man, later identified as Rodweller, had cut him off, leading to a road rage incident.

During the incident, there was a minor collision involving both vehicles. The victim pulled over to the shoulder, but Rodweller drove by and fired multiple rounds, hitting the victim’s vehicle, before continuing west, KPD said.

Police reviewed dash camera video showing the incident which they said allowed them to identify the suspect’s vehicle. That vehicle was registered to an address on Chillicothe Street where police found the vehicle and Rodweller, KPD said…
