Major grocery store in San Francisco closing near college campus

(KRON) — For years, University of San Francisco students and employees could walk away from campus premises to Lucky for their grocery needs. That will no longer be the case starting this fall.

The Lucky supermarket at 1750 Fulton St. is officially closing its doors on Sept. 11, a company spokesperson wrote in a letter sent to KRON4. The letter states that this is an “underperforming location.” Lucky is located on the next street over from USF’s baseball field (Ulrich Field) — the easternmost portion of campus.

The grocer said it is working on opportunities for affected employees to transfer to other locations, which will be based on availability and seniority. Lucky’s two closest locations are at 1515 Sloat Blvd. in San Francisco and 6843 Mission St. in Daly City…
