A Toledo city councilman is accusing FirstEnergy of failing residents after a weekend power outage left thousands in the dark across parts of the city.
In a statement Sunday, Sam Melden said residents — particularly in District 5 — had gone without electricity since a windstorm Friday afternoon. He criticized the utility for what he described as poor communication and slow restoration efforts.
“This weekend thousands of residents of the City of Toledo … are being robbed,” Mr. Melden said. “FirstEnergy is keeping us in the literal dark and freezing us out with no information and terrible service.”…
