Mr. Wonderful Loses Big on Oscar Bet
Hollywood, CA – “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary, affectionately known as Mr. Wonderful, found himself on the losing end of a high-stakes wager at the recent Academy Awards. O’Leary, co-starring with Timothée Chalamet in “Marty Supreme,” confidently placed a $1,000 bet on Chalamet to take home the Best Actor Oscar.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, O’Leary expressed his certainty that Chalamet, who portrays Milton Rockwell in their shared film, would win. He even preemptively dismissed any potential influence from a recent controversy involving Chalamet’s comments about ballet and opera, noting that Oscar voting had concluded prior to the backlash.
Despite Chalamet being an early frontrunner, the Best Actor award ultimately went to Michael B. Jordan for his performance in “Sinners.”
This loss means Mr. Wonderful is down $1,000, a sum he certainly can’t attribute to the opinions of ballet and opera enthusiasts.
