New lane closures on US-59 in Sugar Land for Brazos River Bridge project; drivers urged to expect delays

HOUSTON – Drivers in Sugar Land should prepare for delays as TxDOT crews begin the next phase of the Brazos River Bridge project along US-59/69.

The new construction phase started this week and is expected to impact traffic along the northbound lanes near the Brazos River, especially during peak commute hours. Officials say drivers should plan for extra travel time, particularly near the intersection of US-59 and Highway 99.

As part of the latest phase, the northbound US-59 frontage road is now closed between Riverbrook Drive and Festival Boulevard. Drivers in the Greatwood area who normally use Riverbrook Drive to access northbound US-59 will need to follow posted detours…
