ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a showdown between police officers and firefighters Saturday. The Local Hero’s Fund is a nonprofit that supports first responders throughout New Mexico.
Charlie’s Sandbox hosted the tournament. The friendly competition is a fundraiser where every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting first responders and their families across the state.
“People don’t understand that first responders are people too. When we’re having the worst days of our lives, first responders show up and help us. They help everybody, and it doesn’t matter where you are in the world or what you’re doing in that area. Could be a car accident, could be a house fire; they’re going to show up and help you.
