Carson City man sentenced for battery on inmates

On Feb. 2, Eric Lavato, a Carson City resident, appeared for sentencing on two charges of battery by prisoner, probationer or parolee, a category B felony. The defendant was convicted of, on two separate occasions, striking another inmate in the head and/or face with his fist. The defendant was sentenced to 14 months to 36 months in the Nevada Department of Corrections on each count to run concurrent with one another.

On Feb. 27, 2024, Christian Garcia, a Washoe County resident, appeared for a sentencing hearing on the charge of carrying concealed explosive, pneumatic gun, firearm or dangerous weapon without a permit, a category C felony. The defendant was convicted of carrying a concealed firearm on his person without possessing a permit to do so. The defendant was sentenced to probation for 24 months with a suspended sentence of 12 months to 36 months in the Nevada Department of Corrections. Subsequently, on Feb. 3rd, 2026, Garcia appeared for a probation violation hearing. The defendant was found in violation of his probation, and his suspended sentence was revoked.
