BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County deputies opened fire during a standoff with a domestic violence suspect Friday, officials said.
Deputies responded to the 16000 block of Highway 178 in Weldon for the report of domestic violence at about 6 p.m. on March 13.

The suspect, identified as Michael Kemmeter, 30, was found traveling westbound on Highway 178. Officials said when deputies tried to make contact with Kemmeter he changed directions and fled east. The California Highway Patrol took lead on the pursuit.
