Baltimore County government announces liberal leave due to severe weather threat, Gov. Moore declares State of Preparedness

TOWSON, MD—Governor Wes Moore has declared a State of Preparedness for Maryland as the region braces for a wave of severe storms, prompting Baltimore County officials to scale back operations and urge residents to stay off the roads.

The executive order (PDF) comes ahead of a weather system expected to sweep across the state Monday, bringing the threat of 80 mph wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes. State officials warned that the timing of the front could create hazardous conditions starting mid-morning in Western Maryland before moving east throughout the afternoon and evening.
